Two days after the Budget was announced, Nissan unveiled their new electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF to the UK public with a state of the art exhibition designed to show the British public how motoring will be electric in the future.
Frost & Sullivan, a research consultancy have forecasted more than 100,000 sales of electric vehicles in the UK by the end of 2015, and they have also said that the UK will be the biggest market in Europe for buying electric vehicles with the Nissan LEAF being the first all-purpose electric family car.
Nissan are expecting to sell out of the first batch of Nissan LEAF’s when it goes on sale in March 2011 (this month) but if you really want one, you can go online to the Nissan website and pre-order for one of the next batch.
Over 25,000 have reserved their LEAF in US and Japan.
You can go and see the new LEAF in the flesh at the O2 Arena in London on Friday 1 October before it goes on a tour around the UK in 2012.
In Northern Ireland the Nissan LEAF would be a welcome addition to Shelbourne Motors Used Nissan Belfast.
The exhibition will be absolutely free and will feature a driving simulation, virtual car design programme and games that will educate all ages on how electric cars can shape the future.
The Nissan LEAF has been a huge hit already in other markets across the world and we expect it to prove similar success when it reaches the showroom in the UK.
