Two New Skoda's coming

Skoda have confirmed that it will be launching it’s version of the Volkswagen Up later this year.  It’s a bid to double the firm’s yearly sales to 1.5 millions units by 2018.

Volkswagen’s “city car” will be joined by a new small Skoda saloon that will sit between the Skoda Fabia and Skoda Octavia which will be aimed at markets that are still developing.

Skoda chairman, Winfired Krause said: “Skoda’s version of the city car is answer to the increasingly strong demand for small cars with low fuel consumption and affordable running costs”.

“It offers a new sales potential in Europe for us,” he added.

Both of Skoda’s new models will be influenced by the VisionD concept that was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show early March.

Both of the Skoda models will stick with the tag-line “simply clever” offering “practical vehicles with an optimal offer of space and an outstanding price/value ratio”.

Last year Skoda sold 762,000 units which was Skoda’s best ever sales and the figures are already up by 25% year on year in the first two months of 2011.
