Nissan Leaf is Car of the Year

So the Nissan Leaf has been named as World Car of the Year for 2011 at the New York Motor Show.

The Leaf had competition from Audi with the A8 and the BMW 5 Series, which are more conventional vehicles.

The Nissan Leaf already has the European Car of the Year trophy in its cabinet when picked up this February among other titles.

The World Car of the Year award was decided by 66 automotive journalists from 24 different countries that were picked for their experience and expertise within the automotive field.

The judges praised that the Nissan was accessible by “normal” people that was mixed with the very latest technology.  “The Leaf is the gateway to a brave new electric world from Nissan.  It feels just like a normal car, only quitter.”

Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Chairman commented on the win as a “great joy” for Nissan.

If it’s not a Nissan Leaf you want, you can buy a used Nissan Northern Ireland from one of your local dealerships.

Oddly enough, the Nissan Leaf didn’t win World Green Car of the Year, which was judged by the same judges as the World Car of the Year.

Strange things do happen!
