Renault gets new COO

Nissan Americas chief, Carlos Tavares has been named Renault’s new chief operating officer.

He will start his new post on July 1 and will replace the outgoing Patrick Pelata, who vacated the role in April after his part in Renault’s embarrassing investigation into the espionage allegations.

Carlos, Tavares first job at Renault is to develop the French production sites, but unfortunately for Mr. Tavares, he joins Renault at a time when they are seeing sales fall at an unprecedented rate.

The French radio station BFM claimed that Renault’s sales have fallen by a staggering 35 percent year on year since May 1 and Renault dealers are now offering up to 45 percent discounts on certain Clio models.

This could actually go in your favour, especially if you do plan on buying a new Renault, so it might be worth visiting your local Renault Southampton dealer for more information.

Renault has not commented on the claims made by the radio stations, but have gone on to say that the end of the French scrappage scheme incentive has caused a market downturn.
