Hyundai i30 is number 5 million

A Hyundai i30 was the five millionth vehicles sold in Europe.  Since the i30’s launch in 2007, Hyundai have managed to sell well over 320,000 units.

1977.  That was the year that the very first Hyundai was imported, and since then, Hyundai sales have steadily increased.  Up to March this year, Hyundai have enjoyed market sales that are above the European average.

The beauty is, if you visit your local Hyundai dealer where they will be able to give you a more in-depth history tour.

Back in 1996, Hyundai reported its first million sales in Europe, and then going on to hit the two million mark soon after in 2001, then 2005 saw Hyundai sell three million the four million sales coming in 2008.

In 2007, we saw the introduction of the Hyundai 930, which was the very first Hyundai that was designed exclusively for the European market, and it was the first product to carry Hyundai’s “I” prefix.

A factory in Nosovice, Czech Republic manufactures the Hyundai i30 and was Hyundai’s first car making facility in Europe.

Following the success of the i30, the i10 and i20, as well as the ix20 compact MPV and ix35 SUV all have been designed for the European market.

Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, Allan Rushforth said "Hitting five million sales is a wonderful achievement for Hyundai, and it marks us out as a major player in what is the world’s most competitive car market. But this is just the beginning for the brand. We are planning for further sales growth during 2011, to take us to 3% market share in Europe. And in the longer term we expect the quality and desirability of our cars to help us maintain our momentum and deliver our next five million sales in a much shorter time frame."

The facility in Nosovice will increase production this year to 300,000 units while the R&D centre in Germany will continue to work on low emission diesel technology.  They are the same people that have been responsible for all models that have entered the UK market.
