The prototype Peugeot EX1 has smashed the lap time set last year by the Mini E. The Mini set a lap record at the Nurburgring of 9:51.45 while the EX1 managed to do a lap time of 9:01.338 second at the average speed of 86mph, despite the weather conditions being far from perfect.
Peugeot say that the lap was recognized by WIGE Performance who are the official time-keeping bodies for the Nordschieife. Behind the wheel of the Peugeot EX1 was a chap called Stephane Caillet, driver and tuner-technician.
To put this into perspective it’s a long way off the Radical’s 6.48 seconds, but it is faster than a Volkswagen Lupo GTI. The Peugeot EX1 produces 340bhp from two electric motors, one on each axel and will hit 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds and it sounds great.
Does this make you want a Peugeot? Your local Peugeot Essex dealer will have a range of cars for you to choose from and try out. Even if they don’t have the EX1 in stock yet.
The most important thing here is that electric cars are getting faster, and have a far wide reaching range than at first. Before you know it, you will be an electric car convert!
