Japanese production starts again for Toyota

All of Toyota’s plants in Japan have resumed production since the devastating earthquake and tsunami last month.

Toyota, the world’s largest car manufacturer said production would only be half of its normal level due to part shortages.  They are not sure when full production will resume.

Since the disasters in Japan last month, Toyota has only been operating three plants with very limited output, which lead to a car parts shortage.

Toyota has been having a hard time acquiring auto parts, around 150 different types and has suffered a production loss of 260,000 cars since 11 March said spokeswomen Shiori Hashimoto.

In Miyagi, one of Japans worst hit areas was Toyota’s newest car factory.  Over 8,400 have been killed in that area alone.

A minutes silence was held by 900 workers at the Miyagi plant, before starting work on, Monday.
The Japan disaster has claimed 28,000 lives, either dead or missing.
