Salesforce.com and Toyota have agreed to work together on a social network service for Toyota owners that would resemble Facebook or Twitter. Basically, whichever one they choose, it will be a clone but the key difference for the new service will allow owners to “friend” their car which will then go on to alert the owner when they need maintenance doing on the car.
This is a great idea, and very innovative and Akio Toyoda, Toyota president said “"Social networking services are transforming human interaction and modes of communication," he said in a joint press conference with Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff. Speaking from Tokyo, he posited that "the automobile needs to evolve in step with that transformation."
This would be perfect for when you buy a used Toyota Northern Ireland to keep up to date with everything that needs to be done.
The idea is that it will be to open to Toyota owners only to start with and once you have “friended” your car, you will be able to “chat” to your car using a dedicated profile page.
Your car will automatically send you messages that will remind you to do such things as change the battery.
If Toyota can pull this off, it will be an incredible system to use.
