All new Peugeot 508

Peugeot have unwrapped their new Peugeot 508 which shows off its new design and is expected to push into the Asian markets.

Peugeot’s latest saloon will replace the Peugeot 407 and the 607.

The new front portion of the 508 is dominated by headlights that stretch across the wings.  A wide and large grill with the Peugeot badge integrated into the bonnet.  There is also a new shoulder line that tracks the entire length of the flanks.

The Peugeot is slightly smaller than the 607, and slightly bigger than the 407 which show the 607 didn’t do well in sales and merit another generation.  This shows that larger saloons are playing an important role in the emerging Chinese market.

Only a few technical details have been released about the new Peugeot 508, but Peugeot have said all of the cars that use a diesel engine will offer sop-start technology using Peugeot-Citroens e-HDi system.

After the 508 has been launched, Peugeot will sell a Hybrid4 508, with a combustion engine powering the front wheels while an electric motor will be fixed into the rear axel.

According to Peugeot, the Hybrid4 508 will offer 4 wheel drive and combined 200bhp while only producing 99g/km of CO2 emissions.
